I'm Benjamin White — an all too human software developer, technologist, and writer focused on privacy, security, and the future of the web. After years of building software for media, non-profits, and startups, I’m turning my attention toward questions of digital autonomy, surveillance, and trust.

This site is where I think out loud. You’ll find essays and technical posts about data privacy, cybersecurity, software architecture, and how to build systems that don’t quietly betray the people using them.[1]

A few things that shape my perspective:

  • I’ve spent a decade in full-stack development.
  • I’m bootstrapping a privacy- and security-focused company.
  • I have a background in anthropology and systems thinking.
  • I believe in thoughtful software, clear writing, and adversarial interoperability.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, I’d love for you to follow along. You can reach out, subscribe for updates, or just poke around.
